Emergency Makeshift Shelters for Returning Families affected by Ethnic Violence in Kokrajhar, Assam

At invitation of the District Administration, Kokrajhar, Assam, ‘People in Centre’ Consulting provided support for instituting a programme for makeshift emergency shelters for the returning families affected by ethnic violence in Kokrajhar, Assam. The support was provided in collaboration with UNNATI, Hunnarshala and TISS. Vivek Rawal, Teja Malladi (PiC) and Mahavir Acharya (Hunnarshala) participated in the initiative to develop design and implementation guidelines for community based emergency makeshift shelter arrangements that could be delivered by the District Administration immediately to the returning families. District Administration has supported owner driven process for emergency shelters through provision of a kit consisting of bamboo and HDPE sheets.
